Movement is gonna help actually solve the problem. It’s gonna help reduce your symptoms rather than make them worse.

[00:00:00] So another thing you wanna keep doing is make sure that you’re moving. And movement is gonna help actually solve the problem. It’s gonna help reduce your symptoms rather than make them worse. Even though they might make you feel worse temporarily, over the long haul, movement is gonna help you feel better rather than make you feel worse.

And more importantly, it’s going to strengthen your balance system. It’s going to strengthen your vestibular and inner ear balance system because it stimulates your nervous system. That’s actually what you want if you’re having problems with dizziness or vertigo. You want to move more generally instead of less so.

Don’t go on that downward spiral where you’re moving less and less and you’re having to lie down and sit and not stimulate your body and make your body weaker by doing less movement. Move more rather than doing less and less. And that’s gonna prevent that downward spiral and it’ll help desensitize your symptoms

it’s gonna make your body stronger and it’s gonna give you a better idea of what’s wrong as well. Because if you’re moving [00:01:00] less and less, it can actually make things more complicated. Then when you do get to your doctor it’s harder to figure out what’s going on because now if the person’s lying around, then there’s symptoms are all over the place.

So move more. That’s gonna help in a number of different areas rather than moving less. The worst thing you can do other than nothing is to move less. So a common reason why people over ages 70 might have an apprehension to move if they’re suffering with dizziness or vertigo is because they’re afraid of falling

and that is very common and certainly a very warranted fear. So the way you want to address that is to make sure that you speak up, talk to your doctor, get to a healthcare provider, and ideally have start working with a physical therapist that will be able to help you with your balance problem. And they can help recommend a cane or a walker, or maybe you don’t need anything at all.

You work with the physical therapist and then they’ll be able to assess whether you need something like that. Or are you actually fine without it? We just gotta address the dizziness and vertigo [00:02:00] problem. Ideally, if the physical therapist is a dizziness and vertigo specialist as well, called a Vestibular Specialist. So you want to speak up,

get to your doctor, get to a physical therapist. Work on the balance problem as well, because that fear of falling is very warranted and you want to address that. You don’t want that to continue on because if you are afraid to move and because you’re afraid to move because of that fear of falling, then you’re going to go down that downward spiral.

And because of the dizziness or vertigo, you’re gonna move less. That fear of following.

And you’re gonna move less and less and you’re going to get worse and worse and decline, decline. Instead of doing that, get to a physical therapist, address the balance problem, and so that way you can ramp up your life and get back to what you love to do.
